Compare the total cost, not just the starting price
A free tool does not mean a free project, and a subscription does not necessarily cover every future change. To compare two proposals, ask for the same number of pages, the same content, the same features and the same level of maintenance.
3-year comparison: template vs custom build
The costs to get priced for each option
- Build: page design, development and content migration
- Running costs: hosting, domain and any paid services required
- Maintenance: updates, backups, support and response times
- Changes: new pages, business features and work outside the package
- Exit: return of content, domain access, code and any migration
Add up the set-up fees, 36 months of monthly payments, annual costs and the options you really need. Don't assume a redesign or problems will definitely happen: ask instead how they would be handled.
What the Capturit subscription covers
- Brochure website: from €150/month excl. VAT, depending on the agreed scope
- Hosting and maintenance: included for the length of the subscription, under the plan's terms
- Changes: extra features and out-of-scope requests priced separately
- Ownership: the client keeps the domain and content. Terms for the code and its transfer to be checked in the contract
See the Capturit plans for the current price and the differences between monthly and annual payment. Work out the total cost on the proposal you actually choose, and don't treat the subscription as a buyout of the code.
The ROI of a website that performs
Return on investment is measured after launch. Set a starting point, an observation period and the indicators that matter to your business:
- Qualified visits: searches and pages that bring in future clients
- Enquiries received: forms, calls and bookings that actually went through
- Sales quality: relevant enquiries, accepted quotes and attributable revenue
- Acquisition cost: spend divided by clients won, with no promise of automatic returns
How a small business should choose
A template may suit you if you:
- Are testing an offer with few pages and content already to hand
- Need standard features and have a template that fits your identity
- Have a template that fits your offer and your contact journey
A custom website may make sense if you:
- Want to stand out from competitors
- Need to organise several audiences or separate enquiry journeys
- Need specific features
- Have content and journeys that don't fit easily into an existing template
What a Capturit quote spells out
At Capturit, the subscription spreads the cost of the website and its upkeep. The quote sets out the pages, deliverables, included changes and exit terms. Any need for bookings, a catalogue or a client area must be priced explicitly.
To prepare your comparison, send your current pages, the list of features you want and your target launch date. We can then sort out what should be kept, reworked or built from scratch, without assuming a full redesign is needed.
Compare scopes, not just monthly fees
Look at our plans and their terms, then the Synapse Activ project to see the pages, the services presented and the contact journey. For your quote, list the content to carry over, the features you need and who will keep the site up to date.
