The price of a professional videographer in France is not just a day rate or a price per minute of film. Two videos of the same length may need one interview in a single place, or several shoot days with different speakers. This guide offers a way to build a budget; it does not give a national average from market research.
Define the result you are paying for
First, write down what you want your audience to do: understand an offer, discover a trade, visit a venue or remember the highlights of an event. Then list the films and cut-downs to deliver. One main film, three vertical clips and a subtitled version are a different scope from a single file.
The five items in a video budget
- Preparation: brief, running order, recce, interviews and scene planning.
- Shoot: time on location, people involved, locations and what each scene needs.
- Travel: journeys, moves between sites and accommodation if needed.
- Post-production: selection, editing, colour, sound, music, subtitles and graphics.
- Delivery and use: versions, feedback rounds, deadlines and terms of use.
Ask for a total for the full scope, then for each option separately. Check whether the price is shown excluding or including VAT. A single "shoot" line cannot be compared with a proposal that also covers preparation, editing and delivery.
Two videos of the same length, two different set-ups
An interview at your premises
The budget depends on the number of people, set-up time, how quiet the room is and the shots of work to film around the interview. Preparing the questions and grouping everyone's availability can cut schedule changes, but the editing still has to be done.
One film across several sites
Journeys have to be planned, access arranged and the look kept consistent from one place to the next. Each site may have its own hours and sign-offs. Ask whether a series of films would serve you better than one combined edit. The films for L'Écrin de la Cité in Carcassonne show this approach to deliverables, but they tell you nothing about the budget for your project.
Capturit prices, not a market average
- Short video: from €890 excl. VAT.
- Corporate video: priced on quote, based on the brief.
- Several locations, a series or a specific production: proposal based on your brief.
The Capturit packages and the quote set out the scope, deliverables and options that apply. For a shoot in Toulouse, see our local budget guide, which focuses on organising the shoot and access.
Trimming the budget without losing the key shots
Sort your scenes into must-haves and nice-to-haves. Pick one main use first, then get future versions priced separately. Grouping scenes on one date can make sense if the people, places and light allow it, but it is not an automatic discount. Keep enough time for sound, sign-offs and a story that holds together.
The brief to send for a useful quote
Send us your business, your audience, the addresses, the preferred dates, who will appear, the release date, the formats and a rough budget. Add an example video and say what you like about it: pace, tone or the way it shows a place. A stated budget helps us suggest trade-offs, but it does not replace a detailed quote.
Get a clear scope priced
Our video production service covers preparation, shoot and post-production. The L'Écrin de la Cité project in Carcassonne shows a series of films presenting several venues. Tell us your location, the number of films, the formats and the uses: these are what to compare in your quote, without borrowing another project's budget.
