Tiers Temps Blagnac: a residence film off the wall

Samy LazraqSamy Lazraq5 min read

Tiers Temps Blagnac, a nursing home run by the DomusVi group near Toulouse, wanted a film to introduce itself, without the usual look of a care home promo film. Capturit, a video production studio based in Castanet-Tolosan, wrote, shot and edited it like a cinema trailer. Its title fits in one line, spoken to camera by a resident: ‘Today, we’re going over the wall.’

The brief: a care home film that breaks the mould

The home’s brief, received on 2 September, asked for a promotional video with a twist: a cinematic look, slow motion, a hip-hop soundtrack, humour and a sense of the unexpected. The film had to intrigue first and raise a smile, then show what it is really about: how the home sees old age as part of town life.

  • A social life built with the residents, not for them.
  • A home open to the town, in the heart of Vieux Blagnac, near Les Ramiers, working with local partners.
  • Intergenerational links, art and humour, through a project nobody expects: graffiti.
  • Everyday care, shown as it is: the nurse, the care assistants, the home's team.

From story to shooting plan

On 14 September, we sent a film proposal: the residents are planning a rather unusual outing, to meet the children and the artist Lucce and paint a mural. This story became a shooting plan, written in four versions up to the one dated 15 October: 29 shots in three movements, each with its location, action, shot size, camera movement, sound and length.

  • Togetherness: a confidence shared to camera, Blagnac in the morning, the home and everyday routines.
  • Adventure: ‘Right. Shall we?’ The group leaves the home and meets the children and Lucce at the wall of the stade Argelès to create the mural.
  • Pride: the closing words, then a resident’s smile in black and white, over the film’s signature line, ‘Passionnément vivant.’ (Passionately alive.)

The plan also set out the image release forms: one for every adult filmed, whether resident, staff member or contributor, also signed by their legal representative where a protection order requires it, and parental consent for every child.

The drone: declaring the flights in advance

Blagnac sits under the control zone (CTR) of Toulouse-Blagnac airport. Before the shoot, we prepared a flight file for each of the three areas to be filmed from the air: the parc des Ramiers, the place de Catalogne and the home itself, on rue du Moulin. Each file lists the constraints of the area, from the airspace and the Toulouse-Blagnac aerodrome to the urban zone, population density and mobile network, then sets the flight conditions.

  • Open category, A2 subcategory: daytime flights within visual line of sight.
  • 35 metres maximum height, and 15 minutes’ flight time at most.
  • A window from 26 to 31 October, 8.30am to 5.30pm, so a flight could be moved if the weather turned.
  • Each flight subject to the required aviation approvals and to keeping people on the ground safe.

The flights were declared by Capturit, with a remote pilot trained for the A1/A3 and A2 categories and holding an STS-02 practical training certificate. For your own aerial footage, see our drone filming in Toulouse page.

Two shoot days in Blagnac, near Toulouse

We filmed on Monday 26 and Wednesday 28 October 2026: the home and its neighbourhood, then the mural day with the children at the stade Argelès. The residents are filmed at eye level, in soft light, before the pace shifts. Live sound keeps the voices, the laughter and the hiss of the spray can, which you hear at the start of the film before you see it.

The edit and the versions delivered

As planned in the shot list, the gentle morning music cuts dead as a cup is set down, then hip-hop kicks off the adventure and the slow-motion shots of the outing. The film was delivered on 3 November in several versions: 4K, HD, a lighter web version and a LinkedIn version.

What the home says

Capturit made a short clip about our nursing home. Working together was a real pleasure. From start to finish, Samy listened to what we needed and came up with an original and beautifully shot idea. On the day, Samy was perfect with the staff and the residents. The edit was quick, and our exchanges were smooth and efficient. A big thank you for this lovely collaboration!
